Glad you liked it.

I'd love to include the PSP, but I had to limit myself to devices I had, and I didn't include my iPAQ, since it's gathering dust, but I've used it @ highq several times, and I used to like it, but the DS is much better.

What makes the DS a better Internet terminal than you should think has a lot to do with the awesome touch-screen.

It's correct that you mostly use the DS to browse the web, but it's nice that you can produce content, and do basic some editing in a relatively friendly manner.

The DS even accepts handwritten input, even though I never use it.

In defense of the Nokia 6070, I have to say that Opera Mini makes a very basic cellphone like the Nokia 6070, become an awesome Internet terminal. Opera Mini seems to work even on relatively new Java capable handsets, like my Nokia 6100. I still consider the 6100 to be the best designed, in terms of industrial design, handset Nokia has ever made.

If I had a Wi-Fi enabeled Palm device, it might also be a contender. One of the reasons is, that the input system called Grafitti still is the best system for gesture recognition (it's not true recognition of handwriting, but it's close enough, and it works). Grafitti worked BETTER than recognition of handwriting does today on devices like the DS and the N800 does today, I've written quite long passages of text on a Palm, and it was fast and precise.

Downside is that you had to learn Grafitti. I'm surprised that no one has licensed Grafitti, and the manufacturers keep making the same mistake Apple did with the Newton, handwriting recognition has to work.

What's most amazing is that Palm introduced Grafitti in 1996! Once again I have to say. "so much for rapid progress".

Great effort, thx for an awesome test with fine and relevant details.

I would suggest you to test the PlayStation Portable (PSP) as well, as it seems to be a mix between the N800 and the Nintendo DS. But then again, the PSP lacks a prober browser (only the Sony build - no Opera!) and the input device is mostly, by txt'ing with the joystick :-o
