Introduction
The current batch of photo managers are flawed, and fails to utilise the power of the computer.
Mission statement
Inspired by a presence stream on Jaiku: What's the best way to move all my photos from a Flickr pro acct to Zooomr?
- Build a simple photo manager, similar to iPhoto, but with a service oriented architecture, that utilises the Internet Archive, OurMedia or something that will emerge in the future, for media storage.
- Think a cross platform mix of iPhoto and Flickr
Requirements
Rich client
Should be a rich-client application, and run on all major operating systems, Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. This means that .NET and Mono are prime candidate implementation technologies.
Mobile
Should be easy to use from mobile devices.
Tagging and searching
Tagging and searching like Flickr
Cross service
Ability to search across many services, both online and local
Modular and loosely coupled
Highly modular in nature - should utilise webservices for a loosely coupled architecture
Editing features
Some basic editing features, like rotation, redeye correction, colour, contrast and brightnes adjustments
Slideshow
Slideshow is a must.
Ordering of prints
Integrated ordering of prints.
